hear ye, hear ye

"My sheep hear My voice." —John 10:27

Yesterday we read about Peter and Cornelius hearing God's voice. Last week we heard about Paul and Ananias hearing God. Tomorrow we will read that the leaders of the church in Antioch heard God call Paul and Barnabas to be the first missionaries.

Throughout the Bible, countless people hear God's voice. The Lord wants us to be in that number. He promised that His sheep would hear His voice (Jn 10:27). How can He be Lord of our lives if we don't hear His commands? Jesus said: "Anyone committed to the truth hears My voice" (Jn 18:37). He also stated: "Whoever is of God hears every word God speaks" (Jn 8:47). We can hear God's voice.

Are you giving yourself opportunities to hear God? Do you have a set time for daily prayer and Bible reading? Is Jesus Lord of all the details of your life? Are you in Christian community, sharing your life with Christian brothers and sisters? Is the Holy Spirit free or stifled in your life? If you're not hearing God, it's your decision. Listen to Jesus (Mt 17:5).

Promise:  "The hand of the Lord was with them and a great number of them believed and were converted to the Lord." —Acts 11:21
