uncharted, deeper waters

"Amen! Amen, I say to you. The man who has faith in Me will do the works I do and greater than these." —John 14:12, our transl.

In our secular humanistic society, and even in our Church infected with the doubts and arrogance of rationalism, many people struggle to believe in the miraculous. However, Jesus challenges us to believe not only that His miracles in the past continue in the present, but even that we in our time will do greater works than He did (Jn 14:12). The Lord calls us not only to keep the faith but to increase the faith. He wants us to break new ground in faith and by faith to move mountains which we have never moved before.

Because faith is the result of our relationship with the Lord and because the Lord wants our relationship with Him to grow always deeper, the Lord wants us to have ever-deepening faith. He wants our faith to be stronger tomorrow than it is today. He wants our faith to reach its zenith on our last day — the day of our death or the day of Jesus' return.

What God wants, God graces. Do you see how the Lord is trying to deepen your faith through His commands to repent, forgive, evangelize, suffer, simplify, and sacrifice? Obey the Lord and grow in faith.

Prayer:  Father, deepen my faith no matter what it takes.

Promise:  "Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me, or else, believe because of the works I do." —Jn 14:11

Praise:  After receiving the Holy Spirit in the upper room, both Sts. Philip and James followed their Master even unto death.
