"The promise made to Abraham and his descendants that they would inherit the world did not depend on the law; it was made in view of the justice that comes from faith." —Romans 4:13

The Lord promised Abraham that he would inherit the world. In Jesus, we are greater than Abraham (Mt 11:11). In Jesus, we inherit the world, and we have "the nations for an inheritance and the ends of the earth" for our possession (Ps 2:8).

As heirs of the world, we must be the light of the world and the salt of the earth (Mt 5:13-14). As heirs of the world, we make disciples of all nations (Mt 28:19), for the Lord wants all to be saved (1 Tm 2:4). Inheriting the world, we renew the face of the earth through the power of the Holy Spirit (see Ps 104:30). Inheriting the world, we are catholic, that is universal, and we are missionary. The evangelization of the world is our heart's desire, as it is the desire of Jesus' heart.

So let us be "heirs of God, heirs with Christ" (Rm 8:17). Let us be light, salt, evangelizers, missionaries, and catholic.

Prayer:  Father, teach me to live (Rm 8:17).

Promise:  "When they bring you before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how to defend yourselves or what to say. The Holy Spirit will teach you at that moment all that should be said." —Lk 12:11-12
