Similar Reflections

"See that you never despise one of these little ones. I assure you, their angels in heaven constantly behold My heavenly Father's face." —Matthew 18:10

Angels guard us "on the way" to the place the Lord has prepared for us (Ex 23:20). So guardian angels guard people on the move who are obeying God. Angels go before us (Ex 23:20). They serve not just as guards but "advanced guards." This may explain why many seem to have little experience of their guardian angels. If you're not moving in obedience to the Lord, your angel would have nothing to guard.

As we move into the dangerous adventure of life in Christ, our guardian angels will talk to us. Although we may feel like rebelling against them (Ex 23:21), we should be attentive and heed their voice (Ex 23:21). They will speak to us through some of our thoughts, conversations with others, and events in our lives. We must listen to our guardian angels because:

  • they won't forgive us if we don't listen to them (Ex 23:21),
  • God's authority resides in our angels (Ex 23:21), and
  • we will have victory over our enemies if we listen to our guardian angels (Ex 23:22).

Guardian angels do a good job with those who are obedient to the Lord, while the disobedient are worked over by their guardian devils. You will be guarded as a prisoner or guarded to be a victor. Decide on working with guardian angels rather than being worked on by guardian devils.

Prayer: Father, thank You for giving me a life that is so significant that I need an angel on guard 24 hours a day.
Promise: "No evil shall befall you, nor shall affliction come near your tent, for to His angels He has given command about you, that they guard you in all your ways." —Ps 91:10-11
Praise: Father Ron promotes perpetual Eucharistic adoration in Catholic Churches. He has found that no person has ever been harmed traveling to or from adoration in these parishes, even in the most dangerous neighborhoods, or in the midnight hours.
Nihil obstat: Reverend Ralph J. Lawrence, April 10, 1999
Imprimatur: †Most Reverend Carl K. Moeddel, Vicar General and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, April 16, 1999
