Week 9 — Healing

"Then He summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority to expel unclean spirits and to cure sickness and disease of every kind." —Matthew 10:1

Jump to day: Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat

Sunday

"By His wounds you were healed." —1 Pt 2:24

Conversation:

Jesus: From My wounds flowed blood and water (Jn 19:34). I am the Source of healing. Healing is not in the future or even the present. Healing is already done. It was finished on Calvary. All you need do is believe in Me.
Wounded: Jesus, You make healing sound so certain and simple. I thought it was complicated.
Jesus: Did I refuse to heal anyone in the gospels?

Response:

Accept faith through God's word (Rm 10:17) and healing through faith.

Monday

"I drew them with human cords, with bands of love; I fostered them like one who raises an infant to his cheeks; yet, though I stooped to feed My child, they did not know that I was their Healer." —Hos 11:4

Conversation:

Abba: Child, I want to heal you much more than you want to be healed. I am your Father. Fathers never want their children to be sick. Know that I love you. I sent Jesus to die for you (Rm 8:32).
Wounded: "God helps those who help themselves." I'm working on my healing; I've got the best doctors. I'm covered by my insurance. I've been praying a lot about this. I'm doing all I can.
Abba: No wonder you're sick. You're centering your life around sickness and pain.

Response:

Accept your dependence on God's help and salvation.

Tuesday

"If you heed His commandments and keep all His precepts, I will not afflict you with any of the diseases with which I afflicted the Egyptians; for I, the Lord, am your Healer." —Ex 15:26

Conversation:

Jesus: Read the New Testament to see if I ever refused to heal anyone. I healed even when it had to be kept secret because it would be misunderstood. I healed a lady without knowing it till afterwards (Mk 5:30). It's My nature to heal (Lk 5:17). The question is, "Do you want to be healed?" (Jn 5:6)
Wounded: Jesus, I've been complaining about being sick for years and then You ask if I want to be healed.

Response:

Accept the truth instead of self-deception. Repent and confess your sins.

Wednesday

"The people carried the sick into the streets and laid them on cots and mattresses, so that when Peter passed by at least his shadow might fall on one or another of them." —Acts 5:15

Conversation:

Jesus: I want you to be healed so much that I even used Peter's shadow. I will heal the shadows of generations past by the shadows of My faith-filled people. Some of you need healing from three or more generations (Ex 20:5).
Wounded: Jesus, I struggled for months, even years, to build a new life around my sickness. And now You want to ruin it by healing me.

Response:

Accept Jesus' abundant life (Jn 10:10).

Thursday

"Heal me, Lord, that I may be healed; save me, that I may be saved, for it is You Whom I praise." —Jer 17:14

Conversation:

Jesus: Deep down you want Me to heal you, but you're afraid to let Me touch your wounds. So touch Mine. Put your hand into My side and your finger into the nailmarks. "Do not persist in your unbelief, but believe!" (Jn 20:27) By My wounds you have been healed (1 Pt 2:24).
Wounded: Jesus, "my Lord and my God!" (Jn 20:28) Satan, you can't rob me of health. I praise You, Jesus, for healing me.

Response:

Accept the healing touch of His nail-scarred hands.

Friday

"When handkerchiefs or cloths which had touched his skin were applied to the sick, their diseases were cured and evil spirits departed from them." —Acts 19:12

Conversation:

Jesus: How do you like handkerchief-healing? I surprised you again, didn't I? I'll do almost anything to heal you. Don't limit My love to only as much as you love yourself.
Wounded: Jesus, I give in. Go ahead and heal me. Touch me, embrace me. I abandon myself to You. I give You permission to operate. Come, Lord Jesus.

Response:

Accept healing through the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick or other healing prayers.

Saturday

"The sick upon whom they lay their hands will recover." —Mk 16:18

Conversation:

Abba: Child, healing has come to you. Will you let it go through you? I call the healed to be healers. I call you.
Wounded: Abba, I pray for healing, a gift of the Spirit (1 Cor 12:9). I set my heart on it (1 Cor 14:1). I will minister healing to the sick. I will be faithful in small matters so You can entrust greater things to me (Lk 16:10).

Response:

Accept the call to heal at least one person a day.
