Week 5 — The Resurrection

"Jesus told her: 'I am the Resurrection and the Life: whoever believes in Me, though he should die, will come to life; and whoever is alive and believes in Me will never die." —John 11:25-26

Jump to day: Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat

Sunday

"Since you have been raised up in company with Christ, set your heart on what pertains to higher realms where Christ is seated at God's right hand. Be intent on things above rather than on things of earth." —Col 3:1-2

Conversation:

Jesus: Today is the day I came out of the grave. It pleases Me to see you gather together every Sunday in My name. I want you to have risen life not only when you die, but now when you live.
Believer: Jesus, sometimes I feel as if I have one foot in the grave. Because of sin, I am sometimes among the living dead (1 Jn 3:15). I repent; forgive me and raise me from the death of sin.

Response:

Thank the Lord by keeping holy the entire Lord's day, not just part of it.

Monday

"Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, He Who in His great mercy gave us new birth; a birth unto hope which draws its life from the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." —1 Pt 1:3

Conversation:

Jesus: This is the day I have made; rejoice and be glad (Ps 118:24). I'm excited about spending time with you today. Wake up! Happy Monday!
Believer: Jesus, I have a hard time sharing Your enthusiasm. On Mondays, I usually feel worse. I'm drained of life every weekend, and the weekdays aren't much better. I've got to find a new way to live.

Response:

Thank Him by praying Ephesians 4:17-24.

Tuesday

"He Who raised Christ from the dead will bring your mortal bodies to life also, through His Spirit dwelling in you." —Rm 8:11

Conversation:

Jesus: You keep trying to do things by your own power. No wonder you feel more dead than alive. Like Mary, let it be done to you according to My word (Lk 1:38).
Believer: Jesus, send the Holy Spirit. May He flow freely to me and through me, and may I already experience the beginnings of the resurrection.

Response:

Thank Him by praying a few words in another language that the Spirit has given you.

Wednesday

"If our hopes in Christ are limited to this life only, we are the most pitiable of men." —1 Cor 15:19

Conversation:

Jesus: You can be much more free. What are you afraid of? Don't you know the worst has already happened and we have conquered?
Believer: Jesus, I know You're right. Give me a holy boldness. May I laugh at suffering and hardship by relying on the Spirit's power.

Response:

Thank and praise God for His loving presence even in the worst thing in your life. Make this an act of faith in Jesus' victory.

Thursday

"If Christ was not raised, your faith is worthless. You are still in your sins, and those who have fallen asleep in Christ are the deadest of the dead." —1 Cor 15:17-18

Conversation:

Jesus: I'm so happy for you. How does it feel to live forever, to be on the way to heaven? Love is stronger than death (Sg 8:6).
Believer: Jesus, I'm smiling more over the last month, especially this week. I feel light and new, although my problems haven't changed but gotten worse. Thank You for changing me.

Response:

Thank Jesus for at least five minutes. Include one thing you have never previously thanked Him for.

Friday

"There is nothing to fear. I am the First and the Last and the One Who lives. Once I was dead but now I live—forever and ever. I hold the keys of death and the nether world." —Rv 1:17-18

Conversation:

Jesus: I am seated on the throne. It's over. Death is put to death. Alleluia! "Death is swallowed up in victory" (1 Cor 15:54). The only thing left is for My enemies to be placed beneath My feet (Heb 10:13).
Believer: O death, where's your victory, where's your sting? (1 Cor 15:55) Thank You, victorious risen Lord, for setting me free.

Response:

Thank Him by telling someone the good news of Jesus' resurrection before the day ends.

Saturday

"Then we, the living, the survivors, will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Thenceforth we shall be with the Lord unceasingly." —1 Thes 4:17

Conversation:

Jesus: Wait till you see all those people coming out of their graves! I hope you're driving by a cemetery when I return. It will be an unforgettable experience.
Believer: Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus.

Response:

Thank Him by shouting "Maranatha" as loudly as you can.
