how to hear god

"The Lord reflected: 'Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?' " —Genesis 18:17

The Lord wanted to reveal to Abraham that He was about to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. The Lord did this by "standing before Abraham" (Gn 18:22) and evoking a series of questions from Abraham (see Gn 18:23ff).

The Lord wants to reveal many things to you. Sometimes He will do this in much the same way as He did with Abraham. He will lead you deeper into His presence through your vocations, the Mass, eucharistic adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, reading the Bible, being quiet, living in Christian community, serving the poor, praying the rosary, evangelizing, suffering, etc. As we go deeper into the mystery of the Lord's presence and love, many questions come to our minds and hearts. Some of these questions are from the Lord. When we ask the right questions, we will recognize the answers that the Lord has revealed and is revealing to us.

God is Love (1 Jn 4:8, 16), and Love communicates. The Lord is at this moment revealing Himself to us in a multitude of ways. Listen to Him by making any sacrifices necessary to know His presence and to question Him.
