abiding

"Abide in Me as I do in you." —John 15:4, our transl. "I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who lives in Me and I in him, will produce abundantly." — John 15:5

The most important questions in our lives are:

  • "Am I abiding in Jesus?"
  • If so, "How deeply am I abiding in Jesus?"

    • The answers to these questions are revealed by answering other questions:

  • Have I let the Lord prune me so as to bear more fruit? (Jn 15:2)
  • Do I let the Holy Spirit produce the fruit of holiness (see Gal 5:22) and evangelization in my life?
  • Do I talk to people about Jesus, the Love of my life?
  • Am I producing more abundantly, or at least abundantly? (Jn 15:5)
  • Are Jesus' words abiding in me? (Jn 15:7)
  • Do I expose myself to Jesus' words daily or even several times a day?
  • Are my prayers generally answered because I know God's will and ask for it instead of my own will? (see Jn 15:7)

    • Abide in and live in Jesus, for He lives in you.

    Prayer:  Father, I decide to die daily to self so as to live in You.

    Promise:  "Their story caused great joy among the brothers." —Acts 15:3

    Praise:  After being chosen to be the Pope, Pius refused to have the customary banquet and celebrations. He had these monies given to the poor.
