rejoice with the lord

"At that moment Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit." —Luke 10:21

While I was writing this, I was at the University of Houston to talk at a nearby conference. I read Jesus' words: "I watched Satan fall from the sky like lightning" (Lk 10:18). Then I looked out the window and saw flashes of lightning. (The Lord is very coordinated.) I rejoiced at this "God-incidence." As I read on, Jesus reminded me to rejoice more heartily in that my name is inscribed in heaven (Lk 10:20).

We must "rejoice in the Lord always" (Phil 4:4) and rejoice with the Lord always in the Holy Spirit that the Father has "revealed to the merest children" what He has "hidden from the learned and the clever" (Lk 10:21). We rejoice that the Father has revealed the Son to us, and the Son has revealed the Father "to whom the Son wishes to reveal Him" (Lk 10:22). Let us rejoice in and with the Lord because we are victorious in being saved by grace through faith (Eph 2:8) in the good news of Jesus revealed to us.

"Blest are the eyes that see what you see. I tell you, many prophets and kings wished to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it" (Lk 10:23-24). Let us rejoice in knowing and loving Jesus, our Savior, Lord, and God.

Prayer:  Father, give me Your heart, mind, desires, and joy (Jn 15:11).

Promise:  "Thus the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his earlier ones." —Jb 42:12

Praise:  Our Lady of the Rosary "rejoiced in the Lord" by treasuring in her heart the joys, sorrows, and glories of her Messiah.
