Fr. Al Lauer, founder of Presentation Ministries and the Discipleship Retreats, strove to carry out the vision given to him during a private retreat here. The vision is as follows:
"To stop abortion, save lives, restore families, evangelize young people, and build a new civilization of love, we need mature Christians, healed and deeply rooted in the imitation of Jesus." To build a "new civilization of love" we need strong Catholic Christians who have received a strong formation. The Holy Spirit will pour out the strength and grace to face this challenge on all those open to His will.
The 40-Day Discipleship Formation is an intense study of the teachings of the Catholic Church and the Bible in the context of the sacraments and Christian community. The Formation consists of 13 retreats covering different aspects of discipleship. Most retreats are 3 days each. To complete the 40 days, a retreatant would attend one retreat on each of the different topics.
The New Evangelization in the Church encourages adult Catholics to renew their baptismal commitment through catechesis and formation similar to the RCIA formation.
Retreatants who wish to make a formal commitment to complete the 40-Day Discipleship Formation, do so during a Mass after completing three or more seminars. At various stages of the formation, the retreatant will receive other prayers of the Church in a simple liturgical ceremony.
Those who commit to the forty day formation have the opportunity to enter more deeply into a personal encounter with Jesus and to more fully live the "radical newness" of baptism (Christifideles Laici, 10; Pope Saint John Paul II). Requirements to complete the 40-Day Discipleship Formation are:
Note that the completed 40-Day Discipleship Formation in addition to 8 other designated courses is one option toward fulfilling the requirements for Guadalupe Bible College (GBC) graduation.
