Week 3 — Abba (Father)

"God has sent forth into our hearts the Spirit of His Son Which cries out 'Abba!' ('Father!')" —Galatians 4:6

Jump to day: Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat

Sunday

"He kept saying, 'Abba (O Father), You have the power to do all things!' " —Mk 14:36

Conversation:

Abba: My child, I love you much more than you realize. I love you as much as I love Mary, the mother of Jesus. If you realized one percent of My love for you, you would faint and die.
Child: Father, I have a hard time calling You "Dad" or "Abba." Help me to let You embrace, kiss, and father me (Lk 15:20).

Response:

Obey by praying "Abba" ten times. Do you notice how quickly Abba is changing you?

Monday

"I drew them with human cords, with bands of love; I fostered them like one who raises an infant to his cheeks; yet, though I stooped to feed My child, they did not know that I was their Healer." —Hos 11:4

Conversation:

Abba: My child, would you let Me hold you on My lap? I know you think you're grown up. But you must change and become like a little child to enter My kingdom (Mt 18:3).
Child: Dad, why did You ever want to adopt me? You own the world, galaxies, and quasars light years away. Why adopt me?

Response:

Obey the call to ask something of Dad that you've never asked before.

Tuesday

"Anyone who loves Me will be true to My word, and My Father will love him; We will come to him and make Our dwelling place with him." —Jn 14:23

Conversation:

Abba: My child, I want to do something no father could ever do. I want to live in you. I know you don't understand, but let it be.
Child: I don't know what to say. Your ways and thoughts are different than mine (Is 55:8).

Response:

Obey the Lord by being quiet outside and inside for ten minutes. Do you hear Abba?

Wednesday

"Yes, God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him may not die but may have eternal life." —Jn 3:16

Conversation:

Abba: My child, I sent My only-begotten Son, Jesus, to die for you. He said, "As the Father has loved Me, so I have loved you" (Jn 15:9). He's the only Way to Me (Jn 14:6).
Child: Deep inside a feeling of guilt prevents me from loving You. Forgive, deliver, and heal me.

Response:

Obey by going to Confession. Call for an appointment or decide on a time as soon as possible.

Thursday

" 'Philip,' Jesus replied, 'after I have been with you all this time, you still do not know Me? Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? " —Jn 14:9

Conversation:

Abba: My child, let Jesus and Me live in you (Jn 17:23).
Child: Dad, thank You for hiding this from the learned and clever and revealing it to the merest children (Lk 10:21).

Response:

Obey by singing to Dad the song by Carey Landry, "Abba...Abba, Father..."

Friday

"Have no love for the world, nor the things that the world affords. If anyone loves the world, the Father's love has no place in him." —1 Jn 2:15

Conversation:

Abba: My child, remember when Jesus taught you to pray. His first word was "Abba" (Lk 11:2).
Child: Dad, I'm coming to believe You love me (1 Jn 4:16). You are Love (1 Jn 4:16). Your love is displacing my worldly concerns.

Response:

Obey and tell Abba you are happy He has adopted you. Imagine yourself receiving His embrace (Lk 15:20).

Saturday

"See what love the Father has bestowed on us in letting us be called children of God! Yet that is what we are." —1 Jn 3:1

Conversation:

Abba: My child, Jesus and I will send you the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit (Jn 14:16). He'll cry out in you, "Abba." Do you hear Him?
Child: Abba...

Response:

Obey by giving Abba a Father's Day gift.
