Week 28 — Holiness

" 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts!' they cried one to the other." —Isaiah 6:3

Jump to day: Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat

Sunday

"Become holy yourselves in every aspect of your conduct, after the likeness of the holy One Who called you; remember, Scripture says, 'Be holy, for I am holy.' " —1 Pt 1:15-16

Conversation:

Abba: Child, I want you to become as much like me as possible. Be holy in body, mind, emotions, will, and sexuality. I have set you apart and chosen you out of the world. You are My own in a special way. You are precious.
Child: Abba, "You have created me. You have called me by name and I am Yours."
Abba: Child, "as for lewd conduct or promiscuousness or lust of any sort, let them not even be mentioned among you; your holiness forbids this. Nor should there be any obscene, silly, or suggestive talk; all that is out of place" (Eph 5:3-4).

Response:

Set apart your body and sexuality for the kingdom (Mt 19:12).

Monday

"Blest are they who hunger and thirst for holiness; they shall have their fill." —Mt 5:6

Conversation:

Abba: Child, you don't want to be like Me, do you? O yes, you have a mild desire to be holy. However, your desire to be profaned and defiled by the things of the world is stronger. Before you seek holiness half-heartedly, pray to desire holiness as much as a starving person wants food.
Child: Abba, You know me. Break the spell of self in my life. May my desires not be subtly suicidal but holy.

Response:

Set apart your daily work.

Tuesday

"I tell you, unless your holiness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees you shall not enter the kingdom of God." —Mt 5:20

Conversation:

Abba: Child, holiness is not comparing yourself with others. I don't want you trying to be more or less holier than others. You must not be as holy as others but as holy as I. Be made perfect as I am perfect (Mt 5:48). Don't give up, give in. You can't do it yourself, but you can let it be done to you (Lk 1:38). Holiness happens not by your power or works, but by My Spirit (Zec 4:6).
Child: Nothing is impossible with You (Lk 1:37).

Response:

Set apart your relationships, marriage, and family.

Wednesday

"The Paraclete, the Holy Spirit Whom the Father will send in My name, will instruct you in everything, and remind you of all that I told you." —Jn 14:26

Conversation:

Abba: Child, I sent you the Holy Spirit not because you are holy but to make you holy. The Holy Spirit can make you fully mature, lacking in nothing (Jas 1:4).
Child: Abba, there are aspects of my character far from holiness. It would take a chain reaction of major miracles to sanctify me.
Abba: I know.

Response:

Set apart your will.

Thursday

"Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all the holy ones..." —Phil 1:1

Conversation:

Abba: Child, from now on I am going to call you "saint." I called My people "saints" throughout the New Testament. And you don't have to die to become a saint, except you must die to yourself.
Saint: Abba, please don't call me "saint." It's embarrassing. What are people going to think? My life is not holy. When you call me "saint," my life appears to be a contradiction.

Response:

Set apart your emotions.

Friday

"Seek first His kingship over you, His way of holiness, and all these things will be given you besides." —Mt 6:33

Conversation:

Abba: Saint, do you know holiness can be contagious? If you're holy, your family can be a holy family (1 Cor 7:14). If you reach out to a holy person to give them a glass of water, you receive a holy man's reward (Mt 10:41).
Saint: Abba, I wish You'd quit calling me "saint."
Abba: Saint, go to Holy Communion; read the holy Bible; fellowship with the holy ones; ask holy Mary to pray for you. By faith, you gain a more secure foundation of your holiness.

Response:

Set apart time.

Saturday

"Strive for peace with all men, and for that holiness without which no one can see the Lord." —Heb 12:14

Conversation:

Abba: Saint, everyone in heaven keeps singing and living: "Holy, holy, holy!" (Rv 4:8) If you're not holy, you'll be out of place in heaven. You won't be able to stand to see My face.
Saint: Abba, for 28 weeks You have spoken to me in a special way. You are making me holy. I give You the glory.

Response:

Set apart your mind.
