Week 18 — Praise and Worship

"Yet an hour is coming, and is already here, when authentic worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth. Indeed, it is just such worshipers the Father seeks." —John 4:23

Jump to day: Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat

Sunday

"Come, let us bow down in worship..." —Ps 95:6

Conversation:

Abba: Almost everything else will pass away but worship. Soon there will be no more healing, teaching, working, feeding, or counseling. There will remain only worship of Me eternally. Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice (Rm 12:1). Live to worship Me.
Worshiper: Lord, send Your Spirit to worship in me. I glorify You in my body, the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 6:19-20). I commit myself to a life and life-style of praise.

Response:

Praise God always and for everything.

Monday

"Enter His gates with thanksgiving, His courts with praise; give thanks to Him; bless His name, for He is good." —Ps 100:4-5

Conversation:

Abba: Do you know your body has been custom-made for the purpose of praise and worship? Your body is awkward in doing many things, but it's ideal for worship. Use your hands and arms, mind and tongue (even your feet) to worship Me. I love to see My children praise and dance.
Worshiper: Father, I thought You wanted us to worship in silence. I didn't know heaven was so noisy.
Abba: Worship is more beautiful than you can ever imagine. Enter My throne room by praise and thanksgiving.

Response:

Praise God with the tambourine.

Tuesday

"Whenever these creatures give glory and honor and praise to the One seated on the throne, Who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before the One seated on the throne, and worship Him Who lives forever and ever." —Rv 4:9-10

Conversation:

Abba: Praise Me, and just when you get to the limit of your worship, I will give you a way to extend your praise. The Spirit will take you higher in praise than you've ever dreamed possible. You may not know how to do many things, but you must become an expert in praise.
Worshiper: Father, I see that I worship what I don't understand (Jn 4:22). My sin blinds me. My preoccupation with myself paralyzes me. Send Your Spirit to free me from sin and for worship.

Response:

Praise God for things you don't understand.

Wednesday

"The Lord inhabits the praises of His people." —Ps 22:3, KJV

Conversation:

Abba: There's power in praise. The way out of trouble and into victory is through the gates named "Praise" (Is 60:18). The praises of infants can silence the enemy (Ps 8:3). Praise knocked down the walls of Jericho (Jos 6:20) and defeated a numberless army (2 Chr 20:22-23).
Worshiper: Abba, I sense Your presence and praise welling up inside me. My cup runs over (Ps 23:5); may I overflow with Your praises.

Response:

"Praise God from Whom all blessings flow."

Thursday

"God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and truth." —Jn 4:24

Conversation:

Abba: You have the privilege and the honor to praise Me. Praise is sometimes sweet and at other times hard. Thank Me for permitting you to praise Me.
Worshiper: Abba, "I had rather one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I had rather lie at the threshold of the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked" (Ps 84:11).

Response:

Praise God by singing "Holy God, We Praise Thy Name," or a similar song.

Friday

"At that moment Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said: 'I offer You praise, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because what You have hidden from the learned and the clever You have revealed to the merest children.' " —Lk 10:21

Conversation:

Abba: O, how Jesus praised Me while He walked the earth! He praised Me even on Calvary. He praised Me in suffering and pain. He worshiped Me even to offering His body on the altar of the cross.
Worshiper: Abba, "one thing I ask of the Lord; this I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, that I may gaze on the loveliness of the Lord and contemplate His temple" (Ps 27:4).

Response:

Praise God in other languages (tongues).

Saturday

"Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Alleluia." —Ps 150:6

Conversation:

Abba: Praise My Son Jesus, especially in Holy Communion. Worship Him by daily Mass. Ask your pastor to expose Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament at least weekly. This is the greatest praise on earth and the foretaste of the heavenly praises.
Worshiper: "O Sacrament most holy, O Sacrament divine, all praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine."

Response:

Praise God in the heavenly court with the angels and saints
