Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Praise Jesus, our Lord and Savior!
Are you ready for Christmas? How many time will you hear that asked of you this December? And how will you respond? Suppose you respond by evangelizing. You could say that you are fasting for the Lord, that you confessed your sins, and that you are doing special good works each day in preparation for the coming of your Lord, Jesus Christ. Well, praised be the name of Jesus; that is what we are supposed to do! We need to share the good news with others because we are told "...if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Rm 10:9).
John the Baptist told the Jews of old and us today "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." For this is He Who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah when he said, "Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight His paths" (Mt 3:3).
Reflect on the fact that God loves us so much that He humbled Himself by becoming a human baby, obedient to His human parents, creatures that He created, even lower than the angels, so that He could save us from our sins by dying on a cross. God sent us His only begotten Son (Acts 13:33) so that we may have everlasting life.
For centuries, the Catholic Church has been led by the Spirit to prepare for Christ's Christmas coming by reading the prophet Isaiah. Fr. Al Lauer always invited us to ask for the grace to read Isaiah in a 22-day format. This will help you have the best Advent ever and prepare you to celebrate Christmas in a life-changing, world renewing way.
May God come and dwell in your heart this Christmas season! In Jesus,
George Schmidl and Jerry Cappel
