Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Praise Jesus our Lord and risen Savior!
In this special Easter season of the Church, we wait with the risen Lord for the coming of the Counselor (Jn 16:7) Who Jesus promised He would send to us after His Ascension into heaven (Acts 1:9). We pray that we may receive the power of the Holy Spirit and be His witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8).
We thank God for you and all that you are doing to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus through Presentation Ministries and especially through your distribution of One Bread, One Body. We encourage you to continue to share the word with those in your life.
We also thank God for Pope John Paul II, who has proclaimed this period between Oct 2002 and Oct 2003 to be the Year of the Rosary. In his apostolic letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae of Oct 16, 2002, he called all Catholics to "reclaim the full meaning of the rosary." The rosary, he said, "deserves to be rediscovered" because it is "an inner journey which (brings) the faithful into living contact with the mystery of Christ and His Blessed Mother."
Our Holy Father also calls for a "revival of the rosary...to implore from God the gift of peace." He tells us that "the rosary is by its nature a prayer for peace" and he declares, "I willingly entrust to the power of this prayer...the cause of peace in the world and the cause of the family." In addition, the Pope tells us that the rosary "contains all the depth of the Gospel message in its entirety" and, in order "to bring out fully the Christological depth of the rosary," the Holy Father decided to make "a suitable addition to the traditional pattern" by giving us the new Luminous Mysteries. These new mysteries are "meant to give fresh life and enkindle renewed interest in the rosary's place within Christian spirituality as a true doorway to the depths of the Heart of Christ."
We encourage you to pray the rosary for the intentions of the Holy Father, for the Church, for world peace, for your families, and for Presentation Ministries. The new Luminous Mysteries are:
- Christ's Baptism in the Jordan
- Christ's Self-Manifestation at the Wedding of Cana
- Christ's Proclamation of the Kingdom of God
- The Transfiguration
- Christ's Institution of the Eucharist
May God bless you abundantly!
