Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Father Al Lauer, founder and long-time author of One Bread, One Body (OBOB), passed from this world to his eternal reward on Sunday, October 13, 2002. Father Al had been suffering with cancer of the liver for most of 2002. He died peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Thanks for your faithful and ardent prayers on his behalf. Please join us in praying for his eternal rest and for his mother, brother, and sister.
Father Al's last written words in OBOB are in the September 30, 2004 teaching. He wrote his last several weeks of OBOB teachings from his deathbed at the cost of great suffering. In his final teaching, Father Al was only able to write a few sentences, but the last words he wrote are: "I know that My Redeemer lives" (see Jb 19:25). This verse is a fitting summary of his life of faith. He constantly fixed his eyes on Jesus (Heb 3:1) and his heartfelt desire remains that you do the same. Sept 30th is also the feast of St. Jerome, the great Bible scholar — no coincidence!
Be assured that OBOB is in good shape for the long haul. The daily teachings are written two years in advance, and the Sunday ones three years in advance. We have the future of OBOB covered beyond 2004 as well. Thanks for your faithfulness in reading OBOB and distributing it to spread God's word!
You readers of OBOB now have a zealous prayer warrior in heaven, so make great use of Father Al as an intercessor. He's going to keep the Lord busy up there! Pray for us at Presentation Ministries, that we continue to spread God's Word with power. We rejoice in the Lord, and shout "thanks be to God for His indescribable gift" (2 Cor 9:15) of Father Al Lauer!
