subject to happiness

"You crowned Him with glory and honor, and put all things under His feet."—Hebrews 2:7-8

The Lord wants us to be happy. He even died to give us a new, happy life. However, many things in life threaten our happiness. True happiness means all these things must be subjected to us. God has done this. "God left nothing unsubjected" (Heb 2:8).

We find it hard to believe that all things are subjected to us. "At present we do not see all things thus subject" (Heb 2:8). We get sick; we die; we fail; we are weak and confused; we commit sins. However, God has subjected everything to us because one of us is Jesus. He is "crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death" (Heb 2:9). "He is not ashamed to call" us His brothers and sisters (Heb 2:11). He wants to share with us His glory and authority.

With Jesus as one of us, everything is subjected to us. Jesus makes all threats to our happiness "work together for the good of those who love" Him (Rm 8:28). In Jesus, we are loved, victorious, and happy. Even death has lost its sting (1 Cor 15:55). Thank You, Lord and Brother Jesus!

Prayer:  Father, thank You for providing for my happiness in the midst of a suffering world.

Promise:  "What does this mean? A completely new teaching in a spirit of authority! He gives orders to unclean spirits and they obey!" —Mk 1:27

Praise:  Six women in the medical profession, three physicians, two nurses, and a pharmacist, left their careers to home-school their children and bring them up in the faith.
