Today's first eucharistic reading, Isaiah 2:1-5, is a major prophecy for Our Lady of Presentation Ministries, which publishes One Bread, One Body (OBOB). Through OBOB and our other Bible teaching ministries, we invite you to "climb the Lord's mountain" with us, so "that He may instruct us in His ways, and we may walk in His paths" (Is 2:3). Then, instruction goes forth from this mountain as we share God's word with everyone in our everyday lives (see Is 2:3).
This Advent, as we begin the Church's year and prepare to meet Christ in a new way at Christmas, abide ever more deeply in God's word (see Jn 8:31). Then put the light of God's word on the lampstand of your life so as to give light to all (see Lk 8:16).
At Christmas, much of the world "lights up." Yet Christmas is not a matter of artificial lights or candlelight. Rather, at Christmas we proclaim Jesus, the Light Who "shines on in darkness" (Jn 1:5). We do this especially by receiving and proclaiming the light of God's word.
Jesus says to us: "The light is among you only a little longer. Walk while you still have it or darkness will come over you" (Jn 12:35). Abide on the mountain of God's word and let its light shine through you to the ends of the earth.
