TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES

"In consequence, God delivered them up in their lusts to unclean practices; they engaged in the mutual degradation of their bodies." —Romans 1:24

The Lord through His Church and her Bible has always said that homosexual activity is very sinful. It can never be justified (see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2357). Nevertheless, a few Bible "scholars" have tried to justify some homosexual activity by explaining away the repeated condemnations of homosexual activity in the Bible. These exegeses are not sound Biblical scholarship. They have such little factual basis that the intellectual honesty of those giving these interpretations is questionable.

Consequently, if someone believes homosexual activity is ever justified, he should be honest enough to reject the Bible. This would amount to rejecting the Church, through which the Lord has given us the Bible. If the Church has been wrong for almost two-thousand years on such an important matter as the sinfulness of homosexual relations, then the Church is not "the pillar and bulwark of truth" (1 Tm 3:15). Moreover, if we reject the Church, the body of Christ, do we have reason to accept the divinity of Jesus? Thus the consequences of trying to justify homosexual activity is the unraveling of Christianity and the relegation of it to being merely another variation of New Age "spirituality." If we think loving people with homosexual tendencies means accepting homosexual activity, then we should say good-bye to Jesus, the Truth (Jn 14:6) and our God.

Prayer: Father, may I love those with homosexual tendencies so much that I tell them the truth so that they can be healed or receive grace to carry their cross.
Promise: "If you give what you have as alms, all will be wiped clean for you." —Lk 11:41
Praise: Richard burned his pornographic magazines, went to Confession, gave his life to Jesus, and returned to the Church.

The Nihil obstat and Imprimatur are a declaration that a book or pamphlet is considered to be free from doctrinal or moral error. It is not implied that those who have granted the Nihil obstat and Imprimatur agree with the contents, opinions, or statements expressed.
