Malachi 3:7-17 Submitted May 19, 2007
As the rain was falling on the roof of the Chapel, the Lord showed me this was a reminder of the many graces that He is always sending but so often we avoid the rain with our umbrellas and we avoid the graces because we are not open. The rain was also a reminder that we also have to suffer and have to get out of our comfort zones. So, the 40 Hours Devotion is a perfect opportunity to trust the Lord in good times and in bad. Thus the rain, mud, and inconvenience we experience is not all bad. So changing the date for 40 Hours to avoid the rain is not necessarily a good idea. Submitted May 1, 2004
Last Saturday at 40 hours devotion I noticed that all the studs in the new Chapel were in the form of endless crosses. The Lord said there is a cross here for everyone that has ever come or will come to this Chapel if they choose to pick it up. (Our Residential Community is called Servants of the Cross.) "May I never boast except in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ through which the world has been crucified to me and I to the world" [Gal 6:14].) This is a place of Pilgrimage and many graces if my people are open to receive them, The rain added to the inconvenience of being here, but I felt the Lord wanted us to turn our umbrellas up side down and receive what He is giving us during this special time with Him. "To the end He has also called you through our Gospel to possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours. May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting encouragement and good hope through His grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen them in every good deed and word" (2 Thes 2:14-17). "Consider this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each must do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Moreover, God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work. As it is written: 'He scatters abroad. He gives to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.' The one who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You are being enriched in every way for all generosity, which through us produces thanksgiving to God" (2 Cor 9:6-11). Submitted April 1, 2004
