Our community is a split from "Servants of Encouragement", Wayne and Darlene Davis. The group was growing and to maintain manageable size The Davis's requested we pray about becoming leaders. We did and our answer was "yes". We started meeting as a community in March of 2003.
Our community is made up of 6 families, 26 members total. We have 10 adults and 16 children ranging from 13 down to 3 days. The adults are all in the age range of 30-45. We meet the 2nd and 4th Sat. after mass, share a meal, songs of praise, spontaneous prayer, teaching of church doctrine or tradition or bible, prayer over members, closing prayer and social. The childrens' ministry parallels the adult, plus one child prepares a report and activity on a saint. We are all close and spend much time together outside "scheduled meetings". Most of our children attend the same Parish school. We attend mass together one weekday.
Our Communitites ministry to the larger Church is in its infancy, obviously, but we are preparing a course to be offered to our parish on "apologetics".
Community life for me, as leader, and my family has been nothing short of rewarding. Despite personality conflicts, scheduling and other tasks related to the community, we have recieved many blessings from our members and our Lord.
